Western Roundup Giveaway Hop: Win One of Three Western Prizes!
It's time once again for the Western Roundup Giveaway Hop, hosted by author M.K. McClintock! This year, I've got not one, not two, but three prizes to give away. First off, one drawing winner will receive a signed paperback copy of my own Western short story collection, The Ranch Next Door and Other Stories. A second winner will receive an ebook copy. Here's a little about the book:
A collection of Western short stories that go beyond the standard action and adventure of the genre to focus on character and conflict. In the award-winning "Disturbing the Peace," honorable mention in the 2010 Rope and Wire short story competition, a sheriff experiences a revelation about himself and his relationship with the people of his town, while in "The Outlaw's Wife," a country doctor worries that his young friend is falling for a married woman whose husband is rumored to be a wanted criminal. From the suspenseful "Cross My Heart" to the comedic romp of "A Rangeland Renaissance," to a Western twist on star-crossed romance in the title story, "The Ranch Next Door," these stories will appeal to a variety of readers, as well as established fans of the traditional Western.
What reviewers have said:
"Descriptions of both people and settings are superbly done and dialogue is believable. I can honestly say there isn’t a weak story to be found here...I believe that all western fans will find something to enjoy in this collection." - Western Fiction Review
"Well written, genre busting stories...focusing on family tensions, and on character rather than on out and out action...brilliantly comic descriptions." - Bookstackreviews.com
If you'd like a sneak peek into the book, you can read an excerpt from one of the stories, "Delayed Deposit," here, and "Disturbing the Peace" in its entirety here.
Finally, a third winner in the drawing will receive an ebook copy of Her Prairie Knight, a delightful classic Western romance by B.M. Bower. First published in 1904, it's the story of a spirited Eastern society girl who, on a visit to her brother's Montana ranch, finds herself torn between her very eligible English nobleman suitor and a handsome young rancher neighbor. It's one of my favorite Bower books, sparkling with witty dialogue and beautiful descriptions—you can read my full review here. This ebook edition by Legacy Romance is beautifully formatted with illustrations at the beginning of each chapter, and the full text of the George MacDonald poem quoted in the book as a nice little bonus.
Now, how to enter for these prizes? Simply leave a comment on this post. You can also procure up to two additional entries by sharing a link to this giveaway post on Twitter, Facebook or other social media (one entry per mention). This giveaway will be open to entries until July 30th, and the drawing will take place on the 31st. Ebook prize winners will have their choice of MOBI or EPUB format.
