This is the newest four-legged member of our family. Her name is Bär (which is German for "bear," and is pronounced "bear"), and she's an eight-week-old purebred German Shepherd. Officially she's Mom's dog—Mom has wanted a German Shepherd for a long time, so Dad surprised her with this one as a 25th anniversary gift. We all got to spend time with the whole litter during the process of choosing the one with a temperament best suited to our family—and let me tell you, it's hard to imagine anything more fun than spending your evening playing with five adorable puppies.
Bär, besides being utterly adorable, has a lovable disposition and shows every sign of being extremely intelligent. I have a feeling she'll have learned her name and caught on to simple commands within days. This, by the way, is her papa. He's...quite impressive. The grandson of the most-bred German Shepherd in history, he is on track to eventually take over that record for himself.
So, as you might guess, we're having a lot of fun right now.
